The backbone of our decorating process usually involves the preparation of ceilings, walls, woodwork, and any other surfaces including multiple methods and finishing techniques to meet the specific needs of our clients.

At The Decorating Company, we employ traditional plastering methods, skimming with various gypsum-based materials and Gyproc plasterboard re-lining to ceilings & walls. This guarantees high-quality smooth walls that you desire.

We also provide decorative plasterwork including cornices, plaster ceiling roses and plaster dado fitting to name a few.

Ames Taping

Ames Taping is an alternative to plastering and a service we offer to newly installed plasterboard ceilings as well as walls in new builds & extensions.

When done correctly, Ames taping creates a smooth & seamless surface on walls and ceilings, leaving them ready to be decorated the way you want them to be.

Bespoke Archways

Over the years, we’ve developed our own techniques & methods for building and forming plastered arches in various styles. From half-circular to more gothic styles, The Decorating Company can create a bespoke archway to your requirements.

Arches can be formed in doorless doorway apertures, feature walls, chimney breasts and even in windows. Contact us today to see how we can create a stunning bespoke archway for your home.

Artex & Coating Removal

When it comes to removing textured coatings, it’s less about removing the coating but covering it up with plaster. Depending on the age of the coating, it’s often safer & easier to scrape them back a bit and then replanted until the surface is flat & smooth. It’s a relatively straightforward and safe process with minimal mess.

At The Decorating Company, we have years of experience in expertly hanging various decorative wallpapers to both walls and ceilings. We also have experience in other wall coverings including wide vinyl’s such as Muraspec, which has become a regular aspect of our work.

Where appropriate, we use standard lining papers to support smooth paint or decorative wallpaper finishes as well as handling certain problem surface areas.

Surface Preparation

At The Decorating Company, the tools we employ dramatically reduce dust, transforming our own and our clients’ experience. When dust is unavoidable, we will always advise on this and take measurements to isolate, minimise or void dust as far as possible.

We emphasise and take great pride in our approach & work ethic and have a reputation for being careful, clean, methodical and organised.

Surface Preparation

The all-important painting. We use a combination of water and oil-born products which are applied by brush, roller as well as spray where appropriate to any surface being asked to support paints.

Of course, not all situations or clients have a requirement for high-quality surface preparation and finishing. Painting with emulsions and paints design for woodwork and other surfaces are often all that’s needed to revamp & reinvigorate a room.

External Work

We carry out external painting to all masonry walls, chimney heads, woodwork, timber cladding and ironwork with a particular speciality in dealing with & resorting old sash and case windows, bringing them back to life again whenever possible.

We also have another string to our bow – our solutions for working at heights.

Using rope techniques from the industrial rope access industry, we can offer a service to repair & repaint high or difficult to access timber structures such as dormers where the cost of employing a scaffolding company might be too high.

If we can find safe access solutions by using alternative techniques then we can offer this at a cost-effective price. In the case where scaffolding is a must, we can offer to build lightweight towers at minimal cost.
